Non-Fused Switch Disconnectors

Non-fused switch disconnectors are safety devices that use a knife-blade or rotary disconnect to shut down a circuit for maintenance and servicing. They protect the circuit by cutting the power supply to the isolated parts of the circuit. A fused switch disconnector exploits a fuse to break the circuit, while versions of non-fused instead use a rotary switch or knife-blade disconnect. As a result, these switch disconnectors are easy to reset without replacement fuses. A rotary switch disconnect typically works by breaking the circuit by rotating a lever, and a knife blade disconnect lifts a lever off a specific slot inside the device using a hinge.

Types of non-fused switch disconnectors:

These non-fused disconnectors come in various settings to meet the requirements, including the type, maximum current, voltage rating, geographical region, terminal, and mounting types. Each one is segmented on above mention type given below:

  • By type - the market for global non-fused disconnectors can be segmented into rotary or knife-blade.
  • Based on voltage - the switch disconnector market is divided into high, medium, and low voltage.
  • Electric phase-type - these global non-fused disconnectors market is divided into single-phase and three-phase.
  • By geographical regions - the global market for these disconnectors is split up into Europe, North and South America, the Middle East and Africa, and the Asia Pacific.
  • By application - the non-fused disconnectors market is segmented into residential and commercials.

Typical applications of switch disconnectors:

These non-fused disconnectors have crucial applications in various settings, including:

  • They are mainly used as safety or isolator switches and are electrical safety devices.
  • They manually disconnect power from circuit breakers and transformers by turning the handle precisely.
  • They are commonly used in control settings and industrial automation.

Emergency Mains Switch This Professional range of Eaton flush or surface mounted changeover, Mains, maintenance and Repair switches provides a solution for heavy-duty and industrial applications. These type of switches can sometimes be referred to as a emergency mains switch or emergency button, this is because of the nature of what it has been designed to do - stop, in the case of an emergency through the pull or twist of a button. All the changeover switches are IP65 rated meaning they offer complete protection against contact (dust-tight) and water jets. They all have a red rotary handle and all the switches are lockable in the OFF position. Features & Benefits IP65 Rated Flush or Surface Mouniting Red rotary handle Lockable in the OFF position What is the difference between a push-button switch for an emergency stop and a general-purpose push button switch? A general-purpose push button switch is used for controls. For example to start machine operation or simply to switch between different modes. An emergency stop switch or pushbutton, however, is mainly used as a safety measure to stop hazardous events. Eaton

Eaton Enclosed Non-Fused Switch Disconnector – P1 Series Eaton's isolator switch can sometimes be referred to as a switch disconnector, this is because it has been created and designed to safely isolate a circuit whilst it is being used or maintained. This isolator switch breaks or isolates a circuit through the rotation of the rotary handle and locking ring. This type of non-fused isolator switch will be found isolating circuit breakers, transmission lines, transformers and a multitude of other applications. Introducing the P1 range of enclosed switch disconnectors from Eaton. On these switches, the manual operator acts directly on the contacts, the contacts are positively opened on de-energisation. These switch disconnectors can be used as mains switches, maintenance switches and manual overrode switches. Features & Benefits • Thermoplastic enclosure • Surface mounting • Black rotary handle and locking ring • Lockable in the 0 (Off) position • IP65 ingress protection rating • The perfect solution for installing as a safety measure What is the difference between a fused switch disconnector and a non-fused switch disconnector? Unlike fused switch disconnectors, a non-fuse isolator switch does not use a fuse to break or put a circuit into isolation, they instead use a rotary to disconnect or isolate a circuit.
