D Batteries are standard dry cell batteries in size employed in greater drain power applications. They are frequently referred to as "Flash Batteries" since they are used in powerful torches that need to perform for a longer period. Even today, these batteries are frequently utilized in various larger products, including handheld radios and electronic toys.
D Batteries are dry electrical power storage cells of cylindrical shape and are typically used to avail long-lasting power to high power-consuming products. These features make them highly effective in electrical or electronic devices requiring high and long-lasting electrical power.
How Long Can D Batteries Last?
Due to their high current output, D batteries are perfect for high-power demanding electronics. A typical D battery should produce a current of about 10,000 mAh (milliamps per hour), while the exact number depends on the brand and the situation.
Types of D Batteries:
There are two common types of D Batteries, which are outlined below:
- Chargeable D Batteries- This type of D Battery is chargeable, which means it can be recharged and reused if its internal components are still functional.
- Non-Rechargeable D Batteries- This type of D Battery is made for single-use, which means it cannot be recharged or reused. Once the electrical power stored in a non-rechargeable D battery end, it is no longer used.
Rechargeable Vs Non-Rechargeable D Batteries:
D batteries are also offered in eco-friendly rechargeable forms. Using a rechargeable D Battery, the user only needs to remove the rechargeable D battery from the device and plug it into an appropriate charger to recharge and reuse it instead of changing a used battery. Non-rechargeable D batteries on the other hand provide high electrical power, but once their potential electrical charge ends, they cannot be reused. While rechargeable, D- batteries often have a greater capacity than non-rechargeable batteries.
Applications of D Batteries:
D Battery cells are used in devices that demand high current flow, including:
- Large Flashlights or Torches
- Radio transmitters & Receivers
- Small electric motors
- Audio Speakers
- Camping Equipment
- Large remote controls
- Alarm Systems
