Neodymium Magnets

Neodymium magnets are considered the strongest permanent magnets commercially available around the world. They offer excellent magnetism and resistance to demagnetization compared to ferrite, alnico, and even samarium-cobalt magnets. Since the inception of these magnets, they have gained a strong market position as the most popular magnets with a wide variety of applications. Industries such as medical science, electric motor, renewable energy, and technology depend heavily on super strong neodymium magnets. These magnets are so important that it is believed many of the advancements that took place in the last 30 years would not have occurred.

They are also helpful for domestic purposes and DIY Hobbies like jewelry making and other crafts. Because these magnets are super strong, performance efficient, and resistant to demagnetization, they can be manufactured in various sizes and shapes, even smaller than 1mm, making their uses endless.

Rare-Earth Magnets

Neodymium magnets are also identified as rare earth magnets because neodymium is included in the rare-earth family of components. The term rare does not indicate that neodymium is scarce. It is available in abundance in the earth’s crust. It is even more commonly found than precious metals like gold. The rare term is taken from their geochemical properties; rare-earth elements are usually dispersed and are not presently concentrated in the economically exploitable deposits.

To make super-strength magnets, neodymium is not the only component used, but it can be combined with others like iron and boron and sometimes with other elements.

Neodymium magnets are corrosion resistant, and because of their super-strength properties, they are brittle. Even permanent magnets can lose their magnetism at a rate of 5% every 100 years, which indicates that they are not permanent in the true sense. However, if neodymium magnets are kept in the right conditions, they will maintain their magnetism for a very long time.

Applications of Neodymium Magnets

Since the first neodymium magnet production, they have been used for a great variety of applications. Many industries rely on these magnets, and many advancements in these years can be attributed to neodymium magnets.

Besides industrial and commercial use, neodymium magnets can also be used for domestic purposes and are majorly favored by DIYers or hobbyists. Because of their unique properties, such magnets can be made in various sizes and shapes and used for many applications.

Why Should You Choose Neodymium Magnets?

A neodymium magnet is a tetragonal crystal created by neodymium, iron, and baron. It is also known as NdFeB magnets and has been widely used for many applications. As previously mentioned, these magnets are permanent magnets and are the most commonly used rare-earth magnets. Even though some magnets can lose their magnetism by some percentage every 100 years, neodymium magnets can last even longer if kept in proper condition.

They have been popular in the industry for the longest time with properties like corrosion resistance, super-strength, and resistance to demagnetization. Therefore, if you need a magnet for any of the above applications, neodymium is the way to go.

Neodymium Deep Pot Bi-Pole Magnets The Rare Earth Magnets are the most recent of the magnetic materials developed and have been introduced because of the high flux magnetic field they produce. They were manufactured in commercial quantities in the early 1990's and replaced many of the applications which previously had been designed for Cast Alnico and Ferrite materials. Rare Earth magnets particularly the Neodymium Iron Boron grades max. energy product were 5 to 10 times stronger than the conventional Alnico and Ferrite grades. This enabled designers to reduce component size. Minimising contact area with high strength Manufactured from Rare Earth material giving high strength flux fields Neodymium magnet in a cylindrical brass pot assembled with steel pole pieces to give a multi-pole ratio on the contact face Multi-pole effect gives superior grip at the contact face ideal for clamping or lifting application Shallow field circuit gives suitability for positioning jigs soldering fixtures etc N35 grade nickel plated magnet material These pots have a maximum operating temperature of 80°C Applications: Energy Engineering such as Wind Power generation Computer Disc Drives Magnet Separation Magnetic Filtration Loudspeaker Drive Units Holding and Clamping Work Holding Instrumentation
