What are Trimmer Potentiometers?

A trimmer potentiometer is an electro-mechanical device designed to adjust, tune, and calibrate circuits and function as a voltage divider or rheostat. Trimmer resistors are usually cermet or carbon composite and can be connected directly to printed circuit boards (PCBs). They are typically used for the initial calibration of equipment after manufacturing.

Also, the potentiometers do not adjust frequently and follow the "set and forget" properties. These adjusting pots allow you to tune resistors to achieve precise currents, output voltages, or gain. Once the value is set, it is unlikely that the trimmer needs to be restarted unless the circuit needs to be reset.

How to use a trim pot?

To use the trim pot, connect the CCW and CW terminals to the input and ground terminals, respectively, and get the output voltage difference from the wiper terminals. Turn the screw on the trim port to change the output voltage. This screw turns a wiper located in the port to change the resistance.
