An integrated circuit (IC) is an electronic device in the form of a semiconductor flat piece or chip. These pressure sensors can measure atmospheric pressures and are used for specific environments, with various types available. 

What are the types of pressure sensor ICs?

Pressure sensor ICs come in three types: gauge sensor ICs, absolute pressure ICs, and differential pressure sensor ICs.

  • Gauge Sensor ICs

These sensors are high-range pressure sensors designed to measure the pressure concerning atmospheric pressure. The best example of this type of gauge sensor is a tyre pressure gauge that denotes zero when the measured pressure equals that of ambient pressure.

  • Absolute Pressure Sensor ICs

This integrated circuit sensor chip usually detects any barometric pressure (also known as atmospheric pressure) changes and is designed to measure pressure with respect to a perfect vacuum. The type of reading it gives is absolute. 

  • Differential Pressure Sensor ICs

The difference between any two measured pressures is referred to as the differential pressure. Unlike absolute and gauge sensors, the differential pressure does not fix the reference. The pressure levels fluctuate, either rising or falling on both sides.
