Instead of a liquid electrolyte, these probes use a gel as a reference substance for pH measurement. This facilitates the use of a hole diaphragm between the measurement electrode and housing in place of the micro-porous structure usually used in pH probes.They are almost completely maintenance-free, robust and unaffected by dirt and dust.,Gelcap,A potassium chloride solution is usually used to store pH probes which, as with every liquid, can leak.
