It is insulated with polyethylene and the shielding is made of foil and copper braid. Cables with polyurethane sheath are designed for specialist applications.

Applications:

The Cat5e Ethernet cable is developed and tested under stricter standards so as to eliminate crosstalk, which is basically a fancy word for interference between signals. The cat5e ethernet cable outdoor provides a substantially higher speed for Ethernet connections. It has the capability to transfer four signals at once. Another advantage of this cable is that its insulation is made of polyurethane (PUR). PUR is a strong and versatile plastic that is thermoplastic depending on the compound used. It is halogen-free, flame resistant, and tough. But it is not suited for use in extreme temperatures. It includes industrial field and cell level networking. It is recommended for use in both dry and damp rooms and transmission rates are up to 100 Mbps.
Most people think that Cat5 and Cat5e are the same cables based on their physical appearance. You can’t spot any differences in them easily. The only way is to look for the text printed on the cable. Another difference in them is the wires in the Cat5 cables are twisted more tightly than in Cat5e cables.
