EEPROM stands for Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory. It is a type of electrical memory that is non-volatile in nature and embedded in a computer system that requires a small amount of information to be preserved within a circuit or memory in a communicating device. Non-volatile data is permanent and used for user-defined purposes.
Electrical voltages can be used to delete data and reprogram read-only memory, or ROM. Since EEPROM chips are non-volatile, they can be edited while still inside a computer system, and the memory can still be accessed even after the device or computer has been turned off and back on.
Using Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory in a computer or other electrical device has various advantages. It is quite useful to have the option to wipe both the whole contents of that chip and individual bytes within each sector. Additionally, there are numerous interfaces that can be used with parallel and serial buses. They may be programmed quickly and easily without having to remove them from a device board or testing setup.
Since EEPROM devices are embedded in computers, microcontrollers, and remote sensing systems, few of them as such, flash memory is a type of temporary memory that is typically used in applications or devices such as USB sticks.
